The Sociology Laboratory of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, collaborates in research-based internship programs focusing on socio-ecological studies, forest protection, ethnographic research, and strengthening local community institutions.
The Sociology Laboratory of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) is an academic institution committed to developing research, education, and community engagement in the fields of sociology, social ecology, agrarian studies, and sustainable development. Through interdisciplinary and field-based learning approaches, the institution encourages students to actively engage with social and environmental issues affecting local communities.
In collaboration with the Farmers For Forest Protection Foundation (4F), the Sociology Laboratory of UNESA initiated a research-based internship program focused on ethnographic studies, forest protection, and strengthening local farmer and community institutions. This collaboration aims to bridge academic learning with practical field experiences while promoting participatory research approaches related to environmental conservation and social justice.
The internship program provides opportunities for students to conduct participatory observations, in-depth interviews, and socio-ecological research within 4F-assisted communities and forest landscapes. Students are encouraged to understand local dynamics, community-based conservation efforts, sustainable livelihoods, and social relations connected to forest governance and deforestation-free practices.
Through this partnership, both institutions seek to strengthen collaborative research, knowledge exchange, and community empowerment initiatives that contribute to sustainable environmental management and inclusive development. The collaboration also reflects a shared commitment to supporting young researchers in addressing contemporary environmental and social challenges through applied and community-centered research approaches.
