Summary
He is a rural sociologist and natural resource researcher with extensive experience in agrarian reform, social forestry, coastal and marine governance, natural resource conflicts, and the right to food and nutrition. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology of Religion from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and a Master’s degree in Rural Sociology from the Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB University). Amir is active as a researcher, expert advisor, and civil society organizer across various national institutions, including the Sajogyo Institute, FIAN Indonesia, the Indonesian Fisherfolk Union (Serikat Nelayan Indonesia), and the IPB Center for Sustainability Science Studies. In addition to being involved in numerous research projects and community accompaniment in Indonesia’s coastal, forest, and rural areas, he also writes and translates academic publications and teaches sociology courses at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
