Financial & Accountability Trainer
- Background
The Farmers for Forest Protection Foundation (4F) is the only platform established by and for smallholder farmers, local communities, and indigenous peoples in Indonesia. 4F acts as a bridge between farmers and markets, producers, government, and other stakeholders committed to sustainability and reducing inequality. 4F's main activities are managing, distributing, monitoring, and reporting on the efficient use of funds to support indigenous/local communities and smallholder farmers who are working to conserve forests.
Through support from the Ford Foundation and the Ministry of Home Affairs, 4F provides “Support for Smallholder Farmers and Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities in Kalimantan for Strengthening Land Rights, Inclusion in Decision-Making, Economic Benefits, Fair Access, and Readiness for the Global Market.” In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ford Foundation dated April 4, 2024, the 4F program is in line with the theme of “Participatory, equitable, and sustainable governance and utilization of natural resources by community groups and the poor to improve people's welfare and mitigate the impacts of climate change.”
Transparent, accountable, and standard-compliant financial management is an important element in organizational governance, especially for community institutions, village groups, and local institutions. To strengthen the capacity of institutions in terms of financial accountability and responsibility, a Financial & Accountability Trainer is needed who is able to provide training, assistance, and ensure the implementation of good financial principles at the community or organizational level.
- Activity Objectives
- Improving the capacity of institutions/groups in financial management and accountability.
- Encouraging the implementation of financial recording and reporting systems that comply with standards.
- Developing mechanisms for transparency and public accountability.
- Providing technical assistance to institutions in the preparation of SOPs and sustainable financial tools.
- Output
- Financial management and accountability training module.
- Improvement of participants' knowledge and skills in budget planning, transaction recording, and financial reporting.
- SOPs and financial procedure standards for target institutions.
- A neat and accountable financial documentation system.
- Final report on training and mentoring activities.
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct an initial assessment to determine the level of financial management capacity of the target institutions/groups.
- Identify regulations, policies, and accountability standards relevant to the financial management of institutions/communities.
- Develop training modules covering financial management, budgeting, transaction recording, financial reporting, documentation, and public accountability.
- Provide training to participants on:
- budgeting,
- financial recording (cashbook, ledger, transaction receipts),
- preparing routine financial reports,
- document storage and bookkeeping,
- transparency and public reporting mechanisms.
- Providing examples of financial tools such as budget templates, transaction forms, and financial reports.
- Assisting participants in the practical preparation of financial documents and reports.
- Guiding institutions in developing SOPs and financial accountability standards.
- Conducting post-training and mentoring monitoring and evaluation.
- Providing recommendations for improving the institution's financial system.
- Preparing a comprehensive activity report, including evaluation results and follow-up recommendations.
- Implementation Period
The duration of the activity is approximately six (6) months, covering the assessment, training, technical assistance, monitoring, and report finalization phases.
- Trainer Qualification
- Minimum education of Bachelor's degree in Economics, Accounting, Management or related fields.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in financial and accountability training or mentoring.
- Proficient in financial management systems for non-profit organizations or village institutions.
- Able to develop SOPs and financial forms.
- Able to provide training using communicative and participatory methods.
- Implementation Methode
- Assessment of institutional capacity.
- Development of training modules.
- Implementation of face-to-face or online training.
- Technical assistance through coaching and mentoring.
- Evaluation of capacity building and development of follow-up actions.
- Reporting
Trainers must submit:
- Initial assessment report.
- Training modules and materials.
- Training implementation report (attendance list and documentation).
- Assistance report and monitoring results.
- Final report complete with recommendations for improving the institution's financial system.
